I have a story to tell and this is a true story my friend Boomer told me.
Boomer is married to my wonderful friend Mary.  About four years ago, Mary moved to Vegas for a  couple of  years because of a job she took out there.  Boomer flew to Vegas when he could to visit her and on one of these visits, he bought her a cactus because Mary can't grow anything...lol...and Boomer  thought maybe she couldn't kill a cactus.  Mary took very good care of this cactus...watered it whenever she *remembered and amazing it lived.  Then, she moved back home with Boomer....they got married, bought a house and while they were waiting for their new house to be built, they sold their *old house.  Boomer moved in with his mom and Mary moved into her dad's, with their cats.  Of course, the cactus went with Mary.  After their house was finished, they moved in, furnished it and settled down. They have a beautiful home and a few weeks ago, when they were at Mary's dad's, they took the cactus home. Mind you, for a couple of months, Mary's dad watered this cactus faithfully and  even told Boomer and Mary he thought the cactus had grown an inch or so.   On the way home, Mary wanted to stop at the store and Boomer waited in the car for her.  While waiting....and waiting...lol....he looked in the back seat and seen the cactus and he picked it up.  He thought of how good this cactus still looked after all this time, just as good as the day he bought it.  He noticed the moss at the base was a little messy so he moved it and couldn't believe his eyes.  When he seen what it was, he yanked it out of the pot and lo and behold....it was plastic!!!!!   !!LMASON!!   Mary had a big surprise waiting for her when she got back to the car......lol...All of them, Boomer, Mary  and Mary's dad watered  this cactus for over four years!!! lol  This cactus looks so real you can't tell it's fake.  When Boomer was telling us this story, we were on our way back to our summer home after seeing the fireworks on the 4th, and everyone in the van was laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes...OMG, it was the funniest thing I had ever heard and the way Boomer was telling the story really made it even funnier.
You are probably  wondering why I am telling you this story.  This story has a moral. After Boomer told this story I was thinking how much like life that cactus really is.  Just like in real life, nothing is as it appears.  What you thought was real and beautiful, is, infact, fake.  We believe what we see on the surface and want to believe it's real.  When the truth is revealed, it's disappointing, and in some cases, heartbreaking, and you feel so foolish.  Because Boomer had given the cactus to Mary, she loved it,  watered  it and nurtured it, like we nurture love and friendships. There is no real way of knowing what is real and what is not, so you keep believing.  Mary had no reason to check to see if the cactus was real...she didn't have to.  Boomer gave it to her thinking it was real and that's all she cared about.  Real or not, Mary still loves this cactus and it is displayed in their  home and when asked, they tell the story behind it.
What I want to say to you is this: The internet is a wonderful thing...There are many wonderful and real people and you will meet and make many friends, maybe even meet and fall in love with someone wonderful, but there are some people on the internet that are not so nice and you will meet these people also, unfortunately, especially if you are a woman.  Plzzzz be aware of  men that use, abuse and exploit women.  Be very careful who you talk to and never give out personal information, no matter how real and sincere they seem and no matter how much you want to believe them.  I'm not saying that internet relationships never work because many do and successfully.....Just be careful. Also, if you have young children or teen agers that use the internet, monitor and screen their activities...be aware of what  they are doing and who they are talking to. Take every precaution that they are not giving out personal information about themselves. Above all, never assume it can never happen to you or your child...It can and does happened everyday.
Most of all, never stop believing and never give up hope...even something that is not real can have wonderful memories. Remember the memories, and get on with your life.....for every door that closes another opens.  Keep dreaming.....dreams are wishes your heart makes.
God Bless you and keep you safe,

If you know someone that needs a little comfort and inspiration, please pass this story on, you may brighten their day or even bring a smile to someone's face.  I hope I did.....Thanx
